Flow properties of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) excipients, Avicel PH 101 and Avicel PH 102 have been compared by using Brookfield PFT. Afterwards, the effect of hydrophobic Silica R972 as glidant has been tested on both the excipients. Hand blending is done by mixing MCCs with hydrophobic silica R972 vigorously by SAC as an underlined basis for 10 minutes and the flow properties tests are performed. During the flow function test “as received” Avicel PH 102 shows better flow function...

18. March 2018
This presentation will explain the definition of pharmaceutical excipients. Also, it shows the main regulation institutions and existing regulation. It shows the main roles of pharma excipients as well as the ideal properties of pharma excipients. This first part ends with a short view of the excipient market.

Abstract Excipients are an integral part of practically all medicines. Historically, excipients have been regarded as pharmacologically and chemically indifferent within the formulation. However, nowadays excipients along with active pharmaceutical ingredients are the subject of strict monitoring and quality control in pharmaceutical manufacture. According to the current rules of European Union’s Good Manufacturing Practice of Medicinal Products excipients should be subjected to a thorough...

Abstract The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the flow function (FFc) of pharmaceutical powders, as measured by rotational shear cell, is predominantly governed by cohesion, but not friction coefficients. Driven by an earlier report showing an inverse correlation between FFc and the cohesion divided by the corresponding pre-consolidation stress [Wang et al. 2016. Powder Tech. 294:105-112], we performed analysis on a large dataset containing 1130 measurements from a ring shear...

Abstract: The aim of this study was to formulate probiotics-loaded pellets in a tablet form to improve storage stability, acid tolerability, and in vivo intestinal protective effect. Bacteria-loaded pellets primarily prepared with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose acetate succinate were compressed into tablets with highly compressible excipients and optimized for flow properties, hardness, and disintegration time. The optimized probiotic tablet consisted of enteric-coated pellets (335 mg),...

Objectives In this review paper, we explore the interaction between the functioning mechanism of different nebulizers and the physicochemical properties of the formulations!!! for several types of devices, namely jet, ultrasonic and vibrating-mesh nebulizers; colliding and extruded jets; electrohydrodynamic mechanism; surface acoustic wave microfluidic atomization; and capillary aerosol generation.
