Pellets are spherical or semispherical agglomerates of bulk drugs and excipients ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 mm in diameter.[1] The extrusion-spheronization is the most commonly used process for pelletization and is used to achieve a controlled drug release.

This study investigates the extrusion-spheronization performance of some mixtures of co-processed κ-carrageenan and pectin (as excipient), and sodium starch glycolate (as superdisintegrant).
