Tamarind gum is a plant polysaccharide extracted from seed endosperm of the plant, Tamarindus indica Linn. (Family: Fabaceae). It is a neutral, nonionic, and branched polysaccharide having water solubility, hydrophilic, gel-forming, and mucoadhesive properties.
