Abstract Active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with strongly pH-dependent aqueous solubility can face the problem of precipitating from solution when the pH changes from acidic in the stomach to neutral in the intestine. The present work investigates the effect of two polymeric excipients – polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and Soluplus – on the ability to either prevent precipitation, or to control the size distribution of precipitated particles when precipitation cannot be prevented. Two...

In the present study, the effect of Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) on the crystallization of ortho-aminobenzoic acid (OABA) was investigated by seeded and unseeded cooling crystallization experiments. The influence of HPMC on the induction time, crystal shape of Forms I and II of OABA and the polymorphic transformation time was studied. Furthermore, the capability of HPMC to inhibit growth of Form I was evaluated quantitatively and modelled using population balance equations (PBE)...

Highlights • A GF release system was consisted of fish Col/Ch/CS scaffold and PLGA MPs. • The release rate could be adjusted by the ratio of collagen to chitosan and the size of MPs. • The released bFGF retained its structure integrity and bioactivity. • The scaffolds/MPs could promote cell proliferation and tissue regeneration. • This scaffold/MP release system has the potential for skin tissue engineering.
