Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) nanoparticles improved the tensile properties of maltodextrin films. Maltodextrin and PVAc are immiscible. Plasticizers favored the homogenous dispersion of PVAc to the concentration of 10% w/w.

Calcium carbonate can be 'functionalized' by use of etching agents such as phosphoric acid to create inter- and intra-particle porosity with a range of morphologies. Functionalized calcium carbonate has potential for use as a carrier for the delayed release of actives, such as drugs, plant protection chemicals, and food additives such as flavors. The drug or flavor is released slowly by permeation and diffusion. More

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of synthetic magnesium aluminometasilicate (MAS) as a novel inorganic carrier in hot melt extrusion (HME) processing of indomethacin (IND) for the development of solid dispersions. A continuous extrusion process at various IND/excipient blend ratios (20%, 30% and 40%) was performed using a twin - screw extruder. More

Novel orally disintegrating system based on multiparticulate form was developed, offering an alternative to encounter major issues in the design of dosage form for pediatric patients, i.e. the difficulty in swallowing large solid dosage form (tablet or capsule), and the requirement to cover a broad range of doses for different age groups. Microcrystalline cellulose-based pellets containing acetaminophen were prepared via extrusion/spheronization followed by freeze-drying. More
