Abstract Current endeavor was aimed towards monitoring percent weight build-up during functional coating process on drug-layered pellets. Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is an emerging process analytical technology (PAT) tool which was employed here within quality by design (QbD) framework. Samples were withdrawn after spraying every 15-Kg cellulosic coating material during Wurster coating process of drug-loaded pellets. NIR spectra of these samples were acquired using cup spinner assembly of...

Using partial least square discriminate analysis (PLSDA), we studied the spectroscopic differences between the commonly used filler‐binder microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) from five manufactures. These samples had subtle differences in the chemical and physical properties, which are often the cause of differences in excipient performance. Studying these differences allowed us to build and validate a model to classify five manufacturers of MCC using near-infrared (NIR) spectra. More

Formulating drugs in the amorphous form is an attractive and promising strategy to overcome the poorly water soluble challenge commonly encountered in the newly discovered drug. The active research in the investigation of the properties and performance of drugs in the amorphous form has revealed the major challenges in developing amorphous formulations into marketable products. The three main challenges are development of analytical techniques to characterise the amorphous formulations,...
