Your tasks and responsibilities

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Formulation Development Therapeutics, are to: 

 

·        Establish the strategic focus of the Formulation Development (FD) group by:

o   Acting as the senior technical expert and represents development center on innovation and project teams;

o   Establishing overall FD strategy and operating model;

o   Defining and communicating FD-specific objectives that deliver on Innovation & Development (I&D) goals;

o   Working with Category Innovation Director (CID) and Technical Category Lead (TCL) to jointly identify future capability, technology needs, and pipeline opportunities;

o   Leading Development Center innovation meetings with GCBU and local business;

o   Ensuring effective and consistent use of product research capabilities to deliver products that consumers want;

o   Supplementing internal resources and capabilities by developing and fostering partnerships with third party vendors;

·        Effectively manage FD function by:

o   Ensuring industry leading capabilities and skillset of FD team;

o   Maintaining and assessing FD capacity;

o   Ensuring the FD team is appropriately trained and motivated;

o   Evaluating individual performance and promptly remediate problems as needed;

o   Supporting project portfolio exceeding €90 million euros net present value;

o   Identifying most appropriate opportunities to outsource work;

·        Provide I&D project team leadership by:

o   Acting as a technical expert for function by providing sound technical expertise to Innovation Team, Technical Sub-teams and Technical Category Lead;

o   Providing direct supervision for 10+ person formulation development team, and using technical expertise and leadership to support other development site functions;

o   Coordinating the incorporation of Formulation Development feedback into Stage Gate documents;

o   Ensuring core team and senior management have accurate view of technical risks and challenges;

·        Ensure that the procedures used by FD are safe and effective by:

o   Ensuring appropriate equipment and processes are used;

o   Overseeing the development of Standard Operating Procedures for all FD tasks;

o   Ensuring all work processes comply with GMP and/or appropriate regulatory guidelines;

o   Ensuring FD team is adequately trained in all procedures and equipment and continually operates in a safe manner;

o   Support generation and review of pharmaceutical expert reports for product registration;

o   Support development of deficiency letter responses.

Required Qualifications:

·        Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 15 years of experience; Master's Degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 10 years of experience or PhD in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 8 years of experience;

·        Experience working on OTC drug product development with significant experience in solid dose, liquid dose and drug delivery;

·        Proven track record of delivering innovative new product launches;

·        Experience with global drug development and registration requirements for new and modified products;

·        Experience leading team of scientists and providing technical leadership for organization.
